First single release from Mud Bay's 2022 album "Best Laid Plans"

March 2020 - Recording of their new album had just been completed and a string of shows were booked.
The men from MUD BAY ('The Band That Won't Go Away') were ready to hit the road.
But then along came Covid-19.
Tour dates fell like dominoes, one after another until none remained. Lockdown quickly followed and Vancouver's renowned Afterlife Studios barred the doors and turned out the lights. All sessions were cancelled and the MUD BAY project - like everything else - was put on hold. Indefinitely.
Undaunted though confined to barracks, the band turned their focus to the recordings and after exhaustive critical listening, numerous video conferences with engineer / co-producer Erik Nielsen, and flurries of emails, observations, second guesses and brilliant suggestions, MUD BAY emerged from isolation with final mixes in hand.

November 2021 - The long-awaited new MUD BAY album is finally here. Aptly titled BEST LAID PLANS, the album contains 14 big tracks, all new MUD BAY originals.

ROCK IN MY SHOE is the premiere single, the first of a series of single releases leading up to the full album release scheduled for February 2022. Penned by the songwriting team of drummer Murphy Farrell and daughter Aidan Farrell, this kicking R&B song features horns by Jerry Cook (sax) and Norm Quinn (trumpet) and the keyboard wizardry of Pete Sweetzir.

“The Band That Won't Go Away" is back!

lyrics

I got a rock in my shoe and it reminds me of you
Always digging right in, and getting under my skin.
With every step that I take you say I’ve made a mistake.
I say I wanna go left, you tell me right would be best, so what?
You wanna tell me what to do and how to do it, yeah, yeah, yeah

You drive me crazy, with your head so strong,
Always telling me where you think I belong.
Hear what I’m saying, I’ll put it in this song, you know I must be right,
Because I didn’t do anything wrong.

If there were fire in the sea, I’d bet you’d blame it on me
If I ain’t making a sound, you say I’m breathing too loud.
You put my head for a spin, with you ya never can win.
If I gave into your right, you’d tell me left would be nice, c'mon!
Don’t try to tell me what to do or how to do it, no no no!

You drive me crazy, with your head so strong,
Always telling me where you think I belong.
Here what I’m saying, I’ll put it in a song you know I must be right,
Because I didn’t do anything wrong.

I got a rock in my shoe and it reminds me of you
Always digging right in, and getting under my skin.
With every step that I take you say I’ve made a mistake.
I say I wanna go left, you tell me right would be best, so what?
You wanna tell me what to do and how to do it, no, no no!

You drive me crazy, with your head so strong,
Always telling me where you think I belong.
Hear what I’m saying, I’ll put it in this song you know I must be right,
I must be right,
You drive me crazy, with your head so strong,
Always telling me where you think I belong.
Hear what I’m saying, I’ll put it in this song you know I must be right,
'Cause I didn’t do anything wrong.
I didn’t do anything wrong.
Didn’t do anything wrong.
No, I didn’t do anything wrong.
